How it all began
The team was established in 2008 to foster, teach, and coach women of all ages that reside in the Inland Northwest. Our goal is to organize and guide talented women runners so that they may see their true potential not only with running, but also in their life and the lives of their friends, families and colleagues.
The Love of Running
We have over 50 members on the team ranging in age from 20s to 60s running/racing a range of paces and distances. Our goal is for women to have the opportunity to work out/run with other women who want to get faster, improve their running/racing, and meet their running goals. Our warmup pace at practices is typically 8:30 pace or faster.
The typical Swift member is someone who LOVES to run, and enjoys the company of other women runners. We are all ambassadors for spreading the love of running while encouraging & supporting each other both on and off the “track.” In addition to running, we have a few social events throughout the year including an annual Christmas party, a Spring Bloomdsday BBQ and a Summer gathering.
Our male counterpart, the Spokane Distance Project, is an all men’s running team that we meet up with once or twice a year we do a “mixed relay” Tuesday night practice that includes fun and prizes! We also organize the Monster Dash 5k race each October in which all race proceeds go toward Active4Youth, a non profit that funds the elementary XC programs in all Spokane Public elementary schools.
